Heartfelt Thanks

November 23, 2010

Happy Almost Thanksgiving, Dear Readers!

Time has been scarce here, but I’m sure your lives are no less full; I actually get deeply torked off at people who always ass-ume that they have more on their proverbial plate than others, so I’m not going there, I promise.

I thought instead that I’d share a few things, a few little nuggets of gratitude and glitter–things that lifted my spirits the last week or so. There’s a time to wallow and there’s a time for tears, but Thanksgiving is about finding light. It’s about celebrating abundance, even in lean times.

So without further ado, here’s some Intentional Happiness. Thank you ck and Sarah, and to all of you wonderful people who’ve reached out and given me tethers to grip in Sucktober and Suckvember. Thank you, so much,  for encouraging me not to give up and to look for the !!!

!!!: Not having to eat this on T-Day. Mama and Daddy, you rock. And I promise our Big Fat Greek Feast will be full of food, big hugs and plenty of mischief.

!!!: Finding new uses for leftover Halloween Candy. And for family who agree to help you decorate because you ain’t feelin’ it this year.

!!!: This picture of “Mommy at Work.” Thank goodness Miss M. didn’t draw me plunging toilets. And yes readers, I did fess up to the plumber about the “alien object” that was flushed down the commode. The poor guy was maybe 26 years old and seemed rather horrified that old crones like me possess such items. Kid turned beet red, but at least he laughed.  And no, I haven’t grown a rectangular midsection; that’s a laptop, and it appears to be permanently attached. Hmmm, maybe this item isn’t so !!! ? Plus, is that a camel toe? Alors!

!!!: An impromptu visit from someone I haven’t seen in quite some time. Someone who was happy to make my girls feel like Fairies for a day. And yeah, I’m framing these little beauties.

!!!: The return of the Hideous Gumdrop Man. Growing up, I was the only one who saw the beauty in this ornament, and every year, I’d have to rescue him from the back of the Christmas tree. I have sole custody now, so HGM hangs proudly front and center, in all his razzle-pink glory. So suckit, Sis! Hideous Gumdrop Man will not be denied his position of influence ever again!

!!!: You steadfast, caring, generous, funny folks in the blogosphere. I’m hoping to slowly creep back from hiatus, and I’ve missed you greatly. Thanks for sticking with me. I’ll require further patience from you, if you can spare it. But I’m inching, bit by bit, out of the hole.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends. I love you. You rock my Freakshow Planet.

If you are missing my nasty attitude and need a little shot of vicious, you can check out an oldie but goodie here. Snark for Thanksgiving–why not? Also, don’t forget to stop by Friday for words from my dear friend Bryan.

I love HGM, seems like he could have a playdate at PeeWee’s Playhouse… or with Mr. Hankie. Sending All Good Wishes on the ironic holiday we call Thanksgiving.

I’m glad it seems like you are feeling much better. And that you don’t have to have a white Thanksgiving. :)

You have a great Thxgiving, too! Hugs to you and yours,

I’m a tad envious that you have escaped from cooking the dreaded turkey this Thanksgiving. But, at least, a Greek feast is one more reason to feel thankful!

What, no turkey gyros?
While my actual plate will soon overfloweth with Thursday’s feast, my proverbial one is just pleasantly full – a whole week off work. Voila! I’m all ready to cook up some pies and roots (my assigned side) tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving!

HGM rocks! He certainly deserves front and center with lights glowing all around him! Glad your spirits are starting to lift. It hasn’t been the same in blogosphere without you :) (((hugs)))

Happy Thanksgiving Kitch. I’m not sure whether I should be horrified that you already have a Christmas tree up and decorated or in awe of said lollipop tree.

Love this post! The scary gumdrop ornament . . . the picture of you with a laptop permanently attached to your torso . . . the candy ‘ornaments’ on the Christmas tree . . . glad to see you back for a little bit!

Anyone who does your Christmas tree for you (!!!!) deserves a HUGE reward! Wow.

Glad you are pulling out of the doldrums…

I can only guess what went down your toilet. The funniest thing that ever went down ours was a Wise Man from the Christmas creche. It appears he swelled up and clogged the works. Right before a New Years party for 100. Kids are such fun, aren’t they? Somehow, mine grew up to be real people! Nice ones too.
Hang in there.
And Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

a lollipop Christmas tree…it would soon be bare because I’d eat the ornaments! That wooden turkey is adorable!

Hideous Gumdrop Man would be more than welcome on what my family calls “The Tree of Rejection”. It’s kinda like the island of misfit toys for Christmas ornaments.

HGM would hang with pride near the likes of Retarded Snowman and Killer Santa.

Sharing childhood ornaments with a sis…Whew-Boy! I’d have to take cover for a number of decades! But then, being the youngest, I just can’t boss about ANYTHING. Can’t go there. huh-uh.

Getting away with the most? Oh yeah.

So, um, I guess you’re unimpressed with the fact that I recently learned to like butternut squash… I miss you, Oh Snarky One. Be well.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! Hope your day was filled with good food and great company!

I love the Gumdrop Man. Our family has the Ugly Potato Pirate that is huge and hideous. Every year I try to find a place for it that is in the BACK of the tree. LOL

Well, I actually had a rectal exam last week, so Christmas is looking pretty good to me!

As for Gum Drop Man – is this the same GDM from your childhood? Or does GDM get recreated from fresh gum drops every year. These are important things to know!!

Welcome back. And fudge? Way to come back with a bang! Missed you.

I have SO missed you! And your tree made me giggle in remembering the year I was pregnant with Joshua. We put up our artificial tree (that is already strung with lights…) and I just wasn’t feeling it that year either.

So, I made construction paper stars, put shiny curling ribbon on them. I made about 30 and had the boys help me hang them sporadically throughout.

I kept them, and every year since, whenever I see one of those yellow construction paper stars, I smile at the thought of how we all survived that year, including having my oven die Christmas eve night and then catch fire with a house full of people…Different story for another day!

Missed you. Glad you are semi-back!
