Minxy Mine

December 15, 2010

Miss Minxy Mine, you are now…nine.

Nine years ago today, you arrived–on your due date. It was your last obedient moment on this planet.

You are so many things, but of all the words I could use to describe you, Miss D-licious, the one most fitting would be full.

You live your life full-throttle, because there’s no other way you understand. Full happy, full sad, full speed ahead.

Your kindergarten teacher said, “You know what I love about D? I never have to guess how she’s feeling.” And truer words were never spoken. Every breath, every word, every action: you own it.

It’s a courageous, and often exhausting, way to live. Still, I watch you with the utmost admiration for your grit, your enthusiasm, and your commitment to living each moment as if it were your last.

My comedian, my diva, my  sparring partner, my little tsunami–Happy Birthday.  I’m not quite sure what planet you’re from, but this world is much richer with you in it. Every day, you make me laugh and tear my hair out and want to hold you too tightly, because a day is coming when I can’t anymore. But I will always try, Minxy mine.

There is nothing better in the world than daughters who make us laugh and tear our hair out and want to hold tbem too tightly. Happiest nineth birthday to yours…and (as my Aunt would say) Happy Birthing Day to you….do you remember what your life was like 9 years and one day ago?

Happy birthday to Minxy. I hope you guys had a great day. She sounds like what I have to look forward to with Little CEO. Her school music teacher said the same thing about her (she’s in kinder) as Minxy’s kinder teacher said about her.

You gotta love a girl who puts it all out there!

Happy, happy birthday! We were pg at the same time, you know, two years apart. My first was nine days late, however. Good times.

This line made me laugh: “Nine years ago today, you arrived–on your due date. It was your last obedient moment on this planet.”

And then that last image of her made me teary. 9 is so GROWN UP.

Wow.

Happy nine years of mothering, TKW. She is so blessed to have you at the helm.

What a lovely post. Now be honest. You wouldn ‘t want a BORING OBEDIENT child, would you? Where’s the fun in that?
