Hello, beautiful readers! I’m thrilled to be featured at Cheryl’s site today, opening up about my hardest moment, to date, as a mom. And let’s face it–there’s a lot of knock-down, battlefield mommy moments out there–but by a mile, this one wins. It’s painful, and true, and everything to do with Miss D., the first ever little thing that was mine. I’d be honored if you’d visit me here.
I’m knee deep in it, and selfishly absent, but if you have a minute, I’d love it if you’d stop by. xoxo
Cheryl is amazing. I love her site and her whole philosophy about what the MommyPants are. In Cheryl’s words:
What is Mommypants?
Welcome to Mommypants.
I like to think of my blog as a place where we can share our stories – the good, the bad, and the really, really poopy. It’s about the sometimes stinky, frequently joyous, occasionally heartbreaking, often hilarious but always REAL moments of parenting. Because WE wear the Mommypants.
You know what your Mommypants are. We all have them. We all have those moments when we have to put ‘em on and be the Mommy. Even when we have those days where we wish someone else would. It’s about being a Big Girl, about feeling powerful, sexy and, well, responsible. Sure, you might rather be kicked back, sucking on a gigantic margarita while someone else cooks/goes to work/wipes butts/chooses a school/joins the PTA/explains birds and bees/cleans vomit/mends broken hearts/lays the law/schleps/worries/decides/loves.
But you wear them. You do. Because they fit. And we’re here to celebrate that.
Oh? And Mommypants? Not to be confused with Mom Jeans. Seriously. That’s an entirely different blog, which I hope never to read. Or write, for that matter.

I love MommyPants at Cheryl’s.
Thanks so much for your lovely words here. I am so honored you’re at my place today. And I can 100 percent relate to your post. Every time I read it I get teary.
xo
Definitely stopping by Cheryl’s site! I just spent the weekend with my newly-arrived nephew (3 months old) and am fascinated by the whole mommy thing even though I’m not one yet. =)
It’s so good I felt compelled to comment both here AND there.
I read somewhere, years ago, that Americans were becoming the most attractive “race” of people because of all the blending of genes in her children. That made me feel good thinking of how many “blends” just in my family alone. So sad to know that people are sometimes not kind in their inquisitions!!
Best,
Bonnie
Cheryl,
Love your description of MommyPants. And I’d like to say that I occasionally take mine off. That’s a good thing. It helps me wear them with less resentment, more ability and lose the witchy voice that found me when I acquired those particular pants.
You’re right. I wear ’em because, for the most part, I fill ’em out. Nice.
Beautifully written, as always…
You wore those mommy pants well.
