Future Humorists

January 29, 2013

If you ever feel like you’ve lost your funny, humorist/travel writer Dave Fox is the man to turn to. His wisdom and advice (and his kick-ass online classes) will get you back in touch with your lighter side in no time.

I still have a LOT to learn, so I will be taking Dave’s online class this Spring; I got so much out of the fall/winter one.  In case you haven’t heard enough about how I broke the handicapped bathroom, you can go here, where Dave explains how “humor happens when stuff goes wrong.”

Thanks, Dave, for making me feel better about being a clod. At least it’s material, right?

Perhaps he should have used your story as an example to prove his case…but then again I’ll bet he can’t tell it nearly as well as you did!

I am so sorry I missed that post! What a truly hilarious story, and trust me – every single one of those people will remember you and I bet that story has been retold more than a few times already :)

You are so brave to take writing classes. Ridiculous as it sounds (since I write a blog), it terrifies me to have people read what I write – and a class invovles judgment. I remember your story about the woman who didn’t appreciate the way you express yourself with expletivies. I have taken all of the English courses I need (only one short story writing class in the mix), but maybe after I finally graduate, I’ll start looking for writing classes. I love to join you this spring, but the class I am taking now is time-consuming enough.

Thanks for the link – I’ll have to check it out! I used to write all the time when I was younger, but once you stop, you kind of lose it. :(

Wicked! I’m glad you’re doing this again. Hopefully no humorless curmudgeons will be taking it with you.

Of course I don’t think you need any help in the humorous-writing department, but that sounds like hecka fun, an online class. (My squeeze used to teach one for mediabistro.com, both online and in-person. Always sounded like a hoot!)

Can’t wait to be one of the ones lucky enough to read the fruits of your labor.
