We’re in Rome!

We’re staying in a little more affordable digs here–still great, but not quite as fancy-shmancy as the previous hotels, which suits us just fine. What attracted us to this hotel was its close location to the Spanish Steps and the wonderful art collection at the Galleria Borghese.

We’re also taking a 3-hour culinary tour of the city, which is a welcome break from all of the history-ing! I imagine I’ll be donning my elastic-waist pants for that one…

Maybe it wasn’t wise to plan the sunny, beach-side part of the vacation for the end?  Oh well. If my belly and backside are shaking a little more than usual, I’m sure it will have been worth it. I can always schedule a post-vacation Shrink-My-Ass Month, right?

Sending you all Great Wishes and Cheer on your Roman Holiday.

And although so far I must admit I’ve only read a little bit
A great poem that reflects our lives
starts here:

“In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself within a dark woods where the straight way was lost.”

and ends like this (or so my friend who was born and lives still in Florence told me):

“From there we came outside and saw the stars”
― Dante Alighieri, Inferno

What better place for a kiss with your sweetie and you treasured ones on a lovely journey that meanders up and down the Spanish Steps, under Tuscan sun and chalice moon that grows so high in June :)

This trip sounds wonderful…enjoying it vicariously through you! But pictures, woman, pictures! Those need to come when you get back.

Ooh, 3 hour culinary trip – sounds absolutely divine!
Loved the pictures you’ve posted so far – you look so relaxed and happy. Yay!

A three-hour culinary tour? Given that those things are usually done on foot, it sounds like you will need the sustenance anyway–please eat all of the carbornara and cacio e pepe pasta for me! :)
